I'm usually quick on my toes, but my recent encounter with an insurance agent totally threw me for a loop.
One of my client is in the process of moving and asked if her insurance agent could e-mail her homeowners quote since her computer was packed away and of course I said no problem.
At the time my client didn't have paper and pen to take down my e-mail address, so I told her to have her insurance agent call me for it.
A few hours later the insurance agent called and didn't understand why she had to e-mail me the quote.
I explained that I didn't need it, but our clients computer was packed away and that I would be able to give her a copy the next time I saw her.
The next words out of the insurance agents mouth was "That lady is crazy, it must be the air she's breathing on the other coast."
I was literally speechless not even knowing what to say next. That statement was so far out in left field I didn't even know what sparked it.
The only thing that came out of my mouth was "excuse me," with attitude I'm sure and her response was I'll e-mail you the quote.
I was shocked that a complete stranger in a professional setting would make a statement like that to another stranger for no reason what so ever.
Needless to say I didn't have the heart to tell my client what this insurance agent said, but I did recommend a few other insurance agents that I know.
