Seller & Buyer Beware: Friends Don't always Save you Money

When it comes to a real estate transaction hiring a friend may not always be the best choice.

I often hear:

"My friend is a mortgage broker and is going to save me money if I use them."

"My friend is an inspector and is going to save me money if I use them."

"My friend works for a title company and is going to save me money if I use them."

Just because they are your "friend" doesn't necessarily mean they are going to save you money or are even qualified to do a successful job.

Vinyl Ready Art - Road SignsDid you know your mortgage broker "friend" is constantly getting loans turned down because he's not properly approving buyers?

Did you know your retired engineer "friend" charging $800 for an inspection is not a deal, especially since he doesn't have the proper qualifications to inspect your future home?

Did you know your "friend" at the title company might put your file on the back burner because you're friends, so you'll understand?

Over the years I've seen A LOT of friendships ruined over a bad real estate transaction. Be careful who you hire, take the "friend" out of the equation and look at the "professional" you are hiring.
