A few years ago during my moms battle with breast cancer I offered to give her my hair, I had plenty to spare, but she declined. I'm not one to take rejection lying down and knew if she didn't want it that someone out there would, so I decided to donate my hair to Locks of Love.
Locks of Love is a Non-Profit Organization that provides hairpieces to children in the United States and Canada who are suffering from long-term medical hair loss, which they are located right here in West Palm Beach Florida.
My mom ultimately won her fight against breast cancer and I have vowed to continue to donate my hair to Locks of Love as long as I can.
My first donation was the minimum 10 inches, but this time around I decided to donate 16 inches, which I haven't had my hair this short since middle school. It was definitely hard for me to let go of 16 inches, but it reminded me of why I began this journey in the first place. Children battling an illness should never have to be without hair.
If you have an extra 10 inches of hair that you could live without you should consider donating it to Locks of Love.
