Today was the last day of the Wellington FL community build for Scott's Place, which will be the newest park in Wellington FL. However unlike other Wellington Parks Scott's Place is going to be a barrier-free playground for children of every ability.

Scott's Place in Wellington FL was made possible by an extremely generous donation of $250,000 by Del & Barbara Williamson. Their donation was in honor of their son Scott, who they lost to cerebral palsy. Both Del & Barbara Williamson participated in the build of Scott's Place and are some of the nicest people you will ever meet.

Barbara Williamson, Me, Chase & Aidan
The day started out raining, but it ended with sunshine.

It was such a rewarding experience for my family and I'm so happy we got to be part of it.

My husband, Josh, and son, Chase participated in the physical build.
I worked the "parts counter" with my son, Aidan, assisting me. Aidan was also my camera man.

My good friend, Ed DeLaVega, is one of the many people from the Village of Wellington overseeing this incredible build and he said it should be completed by mid-February 2010.

Great food and drinks were donated for all the volunteers by several local businesses: Tree's Wings, Earl of Sandwich, Tijuana Flats, Panera, Duffy's, Domino's and Publix.

It's not too late to be part of Scott's Place in Wellington FL, there is still time to be a sponsor: Scott's Place Sponsorship Form

Good on you Michelle. This is what you call true community involvement. I look forward to photos of the grand opening.
You can judge a community by the generosity of the citizens in making sure that the little ones have places too.
Jenny - I will definitely post photos when Scott's Place is complete
Lenn - I completely agree
Michelle - You have done a nice thing for your cause, Cheers to the success of Scott's Place!

A nice day, an even NICER donation, and the nicest community event!! Thanks for sharing your day with us!
We were involved in the building of Tiger Shark Cove here in Wellington, almost 10 years ago! Its a wonderful feeling when a community gets together for the betterment of that community.
This is how it should be. Generous hearts donating money and time. Not a government job with work performed by the lowest bidder. Everyone will be proud of this place for years to come. Thanks for sharing.
Wow. Michelle what a fantastic thing your community has done. Life can be wonderful.
Clearly Wellington FL is a caring place - we suspected as much, given you're there, Michelle!
Oh, Michelle - it turned out just perfect! It must have been a very touching, rewarding and fulfilling day filled with all kinds of emotions. You and your family have done such a beautiful thing and that playground will be a reminder for years to come of a community's generosity and sincere caring!
We have a similar playground here in our area. What a local treasure!
Its very refereshing to see this kind of thing happening, in our area in Southwest Wisconsin its pretty rare. Thanks for sharing!

Lisa - I completely agree. My husband and I have been volunteering in Wellington for almost 9 years and it's such a great community to be part of. I wish we lived here when Tiger Shark Cove was being built, I'm sure it was a great experience too.
Joseph - I agree
Bill - Life is wonderful
Irene - You're sweat, thank you
Leesa - It did turn out great even though we had to contend with the rain.
Chris - That's awesome and they are
Rudy - I find things like this refreshing too. Wellington is such an awesome place to live and raise a family.
What a great community to come together like that. It looked like it was a day of fun for all!
What a terrific community project! I love what Lenn said, "You can judge a community by the generosity of the citizens in making sure that the little ones have places too." So true.
Donna - It was a great day
Terrie - I love what Lenn said too
WOW! The Wellington community is one in a million, especially when parents like you and Josh involve their children in a project like this one. Raising a child in this kind of environment not only makes a better future for all, but when they bring their children to Scott's Place to play, that they can say with pride - "I helped build that", when I was a boy.
People like you is what makes Wellington Community #1 to raise a family. Thank you!
I have found that apples don't fall far from the tree. Thanks Mom! Love you!
thank you for shoring about your community
