Today
was the Grand
Opening for On the Border in Royal Palm Beach FL.
On
the Border was one of my
families favorite restaurants when we lived in Naperville IL and when
we saw the "Coming Soon" sign a few years back we were very excited.
However it's been a long road to get to this point.
I don't know when
On
the Border in Royal Palm Beach
was originally suppose to open, but by the time I inquired in March of
2009 it was scheduled to open in July of that year. July came and went
with no grand opening.
So
I inquired again and was told
November would
be the new opening date, but that too came and went. I finally gave
up contacting On the Border
and just accepted the fact that they were not
opening even though the building looked complete.
So
this past weekend as we drove
down Southern Blvd and passed On the Border
we noticed people walking in and were shocked. My husband and I looked
at each other and pulled into the parking lot.
They were in fact open,
but only to family and friends of On the Border
employees, their Grand Opening to the public would be today.
Of
course our family had to go
and not knowing how busy it would be we decided to arrive on the early
side and good thing we did because as time went by the busier it became.
I
expected a few hiccups since
it was the Grand Opening, but everything was great, the food was
delicious and the service was awesome.
