This past weekend my youngest son, Aidan, donated his old bike to Jack the Bike Man. If you are not familiar with Jack the Bike Man he runs a non-profit organization that accepts new and used bike donations and gives them away to needy children.

Besides accepting new and used bike donations Jack the Bike Man also accepts bikes that are in need of repair along with monetary donations. While Jack the Bike Man gives away the children's bikes that he receives he sells the adult bicycles as a fundraiser for the charity.

This is truly an awesome program that keeps bicycles out of landfills and gives back to the community. Every Christmas Jack the Bike Man gives away hundreds of bikes to children, this year he gave away over 800 and told me if he starts getting bikes now that need repair can have them fixed and ready for next Christmas.

Jack the Bike Man's Mission: "Provide education, guidance and training to at-risk children of migrant workers and their parents, and to give hope with skills that will assist them in their transition to a new life in the United States of America through bicycle programs and other projects."

Michelle, we love that Americans are recycling (no pun) bikes or anything else that will help others. It's a spirit that we misplaced over the years. Glad it's back.
I wish I could send Jack my old bike and get a new one......but maybe I'll have to settle for a tune up.

Jack the Bike Man is providing a valuable service for the community.
Good luck and success.

Way to go Aidan and Jack. What an excellent program. A local man here also gives away bikes in the spring and back packs in the fall as a way to honor the life of his nephew who died in a car crash in his teens.
What a great project. I will have to check and see if we have Jack the Bike Man here in Albuquerque.
Great program to keep it environmental friendly. It is very cold here in the big apple, not too much of bicycle riders except the delivery men...
What a great program. I always try to find organizations that will donate our old or not so old bikes, helmets, skis that my kids out grew to help those who can use these items. I am so impressed and proud of your boys!
Happy New Year!!
I am so proud of Aidan for passing along something he enjoyed to someone who, no doubt, will love and appreciate it just as much as he did! Jack the Bike Man sounds like THE MAN!
If we were ever to not have to worry about my husband having an income, I can totally see him doing something like Jack the Bike Man in West Palm Beach. And it's great that your son experienced the joy of donating a former treasure to someone less fortunate.
Ed & Tracy - Me too
Ann - I need to use my bike more, if not I need to donate it
Lou - Yes he is
Bob - That's great
Rich - No you won't find him there, Jack is an original and lives here full time
Eileen - Aidan received a new bike for Christmas and he's been riding it non stop every day
Terrie - Me too
Renee - I am too
Chris Ann - My husband probably would too, in a previous life he was a bicycle mechanic and when we left I asked if he missed it, which he does and said he wish he had free time to help Jack
