Not so Speechless Sunday: It's Official

Not so Speechless Sunday: It's Official

Two months ago I received a call from the Compassionate Pug Rescue asking if I was interested in becoming a foster parent and while I never fostered an animal I was happy to help. Some of you know we already have a BIG Pug, Ace, and our other dog, Molly, passed away almost a year ago, so I felt it was a great time to open our doors for a Pug in need and that he was.

When I picked up our foster Pug, Dexter, he was infested with fleas and that was just the beginning. Over the course of two months we discovered he had epilepsy, a thyroid condition, a skin condition, an eye infection, kennel cough, had two ear infections on two separate occasions and was partially blind. Almost weekly I was at the vet for one reason or another and every time I was there it seemed another problem was discovered.

However through it all this guy was HAPPY and has made us so happy. I pretty much knew when I picked him up I was in trouble and while I tried not getting attached, was impossible. So it's official, Dexter has found his forever home with US! While he has life long problems that will require daily medicine, drops and washes we know we can give him a loving home that he deserves.

So I'm proud to announce the newest Gibson.....Dexter Charlie Gibson

Your "Not So Speechless Sunday" blog is great. The pictures are priceless. They certainly show the love between the young man and Dexter. Nice, inspiring blog for a rainy Sunday afternoon. It makes me feel good.

Can't help but love a face like that!  I know you were great foster parents, but, how much better it is for Dexter "Charlie" Gibbs to have found his forever home with caring folks like your family.

Michelle,  great posting--who could not bond with that face?!?  Good for you & so good for him, too. I could have waited until Monday to write, but that would only have been 'cheating' since this IS Sunday.

Hi Michelle - I have some friends/clients who are quite active and very enthusiastic with Pug Rescue --- it's a worthy undertaking and so personally rewarding.   Dexter looks as if he is fitting in quite well.  Nice post.

Dexter is very cute, and I know you will enjoy him. The flea thing--that's just a shame, but I know you dealt with that immediately!

Thanks for all of the great comments! We already love Dexter so much and we're happy that he is officially part of our family.

Melissa - YES!!! I picked him up and went immediately to the vet, so he didn't have any fleas by the time we got home.
